AI Chatbot: Psyche

A grief-support AI application that uses personalized dialogue and voice reproduction to accompany bereaved users, helping them process emotions through safe, private conversations.

Project Motivation & App Features

During the pandemic, millions of people around the world experienced bereavement at the same time. Prolonged grief has been formally recognized as a mental health condition, yet professional counseling is expensive and limited by time and place. Friends and relatives cannot accompany users 24/7, and people may hide their emotions due to self-esteem or privacy concerns.

Psyche aims to provide an always-available companion by combining voice technology, conversation databases, and machine learning, so users can keep talking with a familiar voice whenever they need support.

  • Diary: A safe space to say everything you want, record your thoughts, and comfort your mind.
  • Memory Box: Store precious photos, videos, and memories of family and friends so they can be revisited together with the AI companion.
  • Personal Account & Settings: Each user has a private account and customizable settings to protect emotional and data privacy.

Technical Know-why

Psyche combines a conversation model and a sound model to generate responses that feel emotionally supportive and sound like a familiar person.

  • Conversation Model Training: Dialogue data from surveys and online sources are stored in a conversation database. Personal conversation records are then used to fine-tune a model that reflects each user's desired style and tone.
  • Application Operation: The user's voice is recognized and converted to text, processed by the conversation model, and then transformed into a reply that is converted back into speech.
  • Sound Model Training: Voice samples are used to train a sound model that reproduces or approximates the target speaker's vocal characteristics.

Financial Plan

The initial funding plan focuses on building a minimum viable product and supporting early promotion. If the team secures venture capital, development can start immediately.

  • Personnel Costs: The largest portion of the budget is reserved for core team members working on product design, AI models, and engineering.
  • Application Development & MVP: Funds are allocated for building the first edition of the app, including backend infrastructure and model deployment.
  • Marketing & Advertising: A dedicated share of the budget supports early-stage promotion and user acquisition.
  • Others: Remaining costs cover operations and contingencies during the startup phase.
